Saleri, the Italian designer and manufacturer of water pumps, is extending its range of electric coolant pumps.
Saleri’s deep commitment to R&D over the years has resulted in many innovative solutions, such as electric pumps for the main engine circuit and for auxiliary applications. This extensive expertise enables the SIL Aftermarket Division to offer a wide selection of electric water pumps, such as 460W and 200W pumps for petrol engines in a variety of BMW models, and a 160W pump for Toyota's Auris, Prius and Yaris hybrids and the plug-in hybrid Prius.
At Automechanika 2018, Saleri presented the aftermarket version of the 50W electric auxiliary water pump that was designed by the company for original equipment. This water pump is based on the integration of a hydraulic system, electric motor and on-board electronic module. Impeller speed and therefore performance of the pump can be controlled via the ECU (Electronic Control Unit) with PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) communication protocol. Cooling responds to demand, especially during cold starts or start & stop phases, allowing optimised thermal management and emissions reduction. The integration of the power source and control inside the pump leads to significant packaging benefits and location flexibility within the engine compartment.
